This project is now in its third year of delivery and continues to have a big impact on those young people who attend. The basic concept has not changed with a small cohort of 5-6 young people attending for 8 weeks whilst being given the support of a youth worker to aid their progress.

We have received referrals from a variety of organisations including: ERYC’s Early Help, Safer Communities & Youth Justice Teams, Humberside Police (especially PCSO’s), Youth Workers from our partners groups and directly from Parents/ Guardians of young people who have become aware of the positive impact of the project.

Funding for the project has been obtained also from the Humber Police Crime Commissioner’s Office via its Youth Diversion Fund, Sport England’s “Movement Fund” & ERYC’s Reducing Health Inequalities Fund.

Over the past twelve months the boxing project has continued to grow and develop (see statistics below), in July we trialled IYC Plus session for those young people who had “graduated” from completing a cohort but want to continue, this was held the Leisure Centre but this proved not to be the best location nor day/time for the activity.

Therefore, we have created “blended” sessions in which new young people have their allocated time during the session but returning or “Open Door” young person who has completed the programme are still able to attend, we never ever turn away a young person wanting to box or seek our support.

Session's run every Wednesday between 3-5pm at Goole Ameteur Boxing Club, Goole Precinct. For a referral form and more information please contact debbie.gooleyouthaction@gmail.com
